Jonathan has practiced union-side labor law since 2005. He represents unions in both the public and private sectors, including in litigation in state and federal courts, arbitration, and administrative proceedings. He has extensive experience representing unions in unfair labor practice and representation proceedings before both the National Labor Relations Board and the Public Employment Relations Board. He regularly assists unions in collective bargaining, including providing advice and consultation and participating in negotiations. He also advises unions in internal governance matters, including union elections. Additionally, Jonathan has represented employees in class actions in state and federal court to recover unpaid wages. He has also experience litigating actions to enforce state open meetings and public records laws.
Since 2011, Jonathan has been a co-author of NLRA Case Notes, a regular column in the California Labor & Employment Law Review, the official publication of the California Lawyers Association Labor and Employment Law Section. He is a contributing editor to Labor Union Law and Regulation (BNA) treatise. He is also a member of the AFL-CIO Union Lawyers Alliance and the Labor and Employment Sections of the California Lawyers Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
Before joining the firm, Jonathan worked briefly at another union-side labor law firm, and clerked for Judge Harry Pregerson on the U.S. Court of Appeals for Ninth Circuit. During law school, he was a judicial extern for Judge Stephen Reinhardt on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Before law school, Jonathan worked as a union organizer.
